AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY: WHAT'S THE GROWING-GREEN PERSPECTIVE ON IT?
Independence celebration of America Day, July 4, 2021: And how many years since the original day of celebration of American independence? My math tells me that 245 years would take us back to 1776, when Americans first celebrated their independence from England. 245 Years! Thank God for those two centuries-plus as a democratic nation. Yes, and democracy with respect for a truly green environment. Americans learned the Green-way and they've built green. However, both democracy and green-way living have been challenged severely at times. It's being challenged now by "Trumpism," which is not as much about a man but a dogmatic bent insisting on reversing much of what we've learned--undercutting it, actually. "Leader-power" is the goal. Today, we Americans need to insist on independence from ideology and avoid rule by emotion. We need what our rational national ancestors proclaimed: Freedom for Green-way living and democracy. Long Live American democracy! May it continue to grow green.
