BIRTHDAY GREETINGS: A Y L O L--Are you living on Lipitor?

Another birthday has just passed.

A great time around the dinner table: my tall 16-year-old grandson, artistic granddaughter, middle-aged niece (a teacher), daughter (a nurse), wife (retired teacher) and me (really old retiree.) Lots and lots of laughs.

A card displaying eleven “Senior Texting Codes” provoked some of the appreciative laughs.

                ATD: At the Doctor’s.

                BFF: Best Friend Fell.

GGPBL: Gotta Go, Pacemaker Battery Low.

I could identify with many of the eleven texting codes.

Example: FWIW: Forgot Where I was.

A very special purchase around the birthday: new hearing aids for me. I can overhear conversations that I never would have heard before. Example: I can hear the keyboard clicking as I type this post! Haven’t heard that for years.

Thanks to the world of medical science for inventing all the meds and devices necessary to keep enjoying life a few years longer.

By the way, a lot of living older depend on keeping yourself in shape. That takes time, you know. I spend quite a few minutes (a couple of hours, I think) a day on fast-walking, pulling stretch bands, hip stretching, Tai Chi. My memory therapist taught me the goal is to keep the blood flowing to the brain.

By the way again:

So glad you have your new hearing aids. It's marvelous to learn that they are working so well!
